My current expectations for teaching are very positive. The group I am in is very organized and we work together well, which I believe will assist in my portion of the presentation. I enjoy getting in front of a classroom of people, but it is very different when it is a room of teachers. When I'm teaching in front of other teachers, I tend to be more nervous. In my other teaching demonstrations, I spoke very quickly and I have been practicing on slowing down. I naturally speak quickly, but I know that can be confusing to those listening to me.
The content of our presentation is very prevalent to current situations in our country. There is not enough focus on instilling self-pride and racial pride in students and I'm really excited for what we plan to talk about. Our activities are also very interesting and engaging and I believe the classroom will enjoy how we plan to teach the material.
I believe I go into teaching situations with a positive attitude and high expectations because I want the best from each experience. I enjoy connecting with students and being in a teaching situation really helps when you are engaging and relatable. As a teacher, I do not wish to talk down to my students because I don't feel that any time this has happened to me it has been helpful. Therefore, I hope that in our classroom discussion students can freely express their ideas and pose questions that they are seeking answers to.
