Everyone did such a good job on their poetry presentations it was hard deciding who to choose! I liked all the interactive portions that everyone facilitated into their presentations. I also liked the use of colors and different formatting. I think the favorite poem that was played during the presentations would have to be Andrea's, the unknown guy with the British accent. That really held my attention!
Stephanie's presentation using The End of March was one I selected to steal things from. I really enjoyed the way she explained imagery by using the crayons and letting us draw our own images. It shows the different aspects that everyone else selected and what stuck out the most visually in the poem. I know when I was in school, the short period I was in public school, I LOVED having art projects. I know some students are not too keen on the idea but letting them do something else that might be of interest to them, yet equally creative, would be very useful. I remembered her poem very well because of the interaction we had with the poem by creating an image.
Hayley is the second person I decided to steal from! I really enjoyed her straight forward approach. I think the way she sees poetry is similar to how others approach poetry. I myself have to read something several times before I understand its meaning so I think it connected with me that she mentioned that. I also liked how she problem solved her way to a meaning behind the poem and it really showed a strong critical thinking approach. I can tell that she developed her method with her own hard work in order to really dive into a poem.
Like I said, everyone did really well and I think for the next presentation I won't be as apprehensive. It can be intimidating teaching in front of other teachers!
